Exciting news! – ‘Home Away from Home’ has been just been announced as the $10,000 Bluethumb Art Prize Winner!
I have just returned home after a couple of days in Melbourne for the opening night of the Bluethumb Art Prize finalists exhibition at No Vacancy Gallery in the CBD. It was an excellent night complete with a giant cheque for $10,000! It was so good to be there and meet the hard-working Bluethumb crew including curator Janni Fewster, co-founder Edward Hartley and PR/marketing extraordinaire Freddy Grant. There were a lot of other finalists in attendance and it is always exciting to meet other artists and feel that kindred sense you get from being amongst your own species 🙂
The original has now sold but I will soon be releasing a series of limited edition prints. The print series will be limited to 25 prints on either fine art paper or archival canvas. Framing in a natural finish raw ramin timber float frame is also available through my studio. For more information on sizes and pricing, please send me an email and I will get back to you soon.
Here is what the judges had to say about ‘Home Away from Home’:
“it feels like home. It glows, it’s warm and safe, inviting, as a home should be. Kirsten has done an excellent job at capturing that enticing feeling in this work.” – Curator and judge, Janni Fewster
“beautiful use of light. The mood and glow created in this painting stand out for me. I just kept being drawn back to it.” – Penny Griggs, General Manager of South Australian Living Artists Festival
