Artwork commissions for portraits and landscape oil paintings

Kirsten is a professional and experienced commission artist who captures the inner life of her portrait subjects. She takes great care in perfecting all the important details to create an authentic likeness that family and loved ones will recognise and cherish.

Kirsten works with commission clients from all over Australia. Her simple commission process and excellent communication means that clients can have confidence in the look and feel of the final outcome. To achieve this, Kirsten takes care to regularly update clients with images showing how their commission is progressing from beginning to end.

Here’s how the commission process works

Step 1 – a conversation The process for commission paintings begins with a conversation with the artist. Kirsten will guide you through the steps of establishing the artwork basics such as image content, size, cost and time frames.

Step 2 – creative development When we enter the development stage, a 50% starting fee gets the creative ball rolling. To develop a visual for the finished piece, Kirsten uses your inspiration together with her professional photography and Photoshop skills to create up to 3 digital mock ups. Once you are happy with the plan, the studio work begins.

Step 3 – artwork in progress During the painting process, Kirsten regularly photographs and emails images of the artwork in progress and seeks feedback.

Step 4 – the finished artwork When the painting has reached completion, Kirsten will email you a high resolution image and seek your approval for the finished work. Once approved, the remaining 50% will be due. Upon payment, Kirsten will prepare the painting for freight or collection.

Materials used

Oil on canvas paintings are prepared by the artist using a medium weight cotton duck canvas stretched over kiln-dried, non-warping 30x70mm stretcher bar. Finished paintings are unframed and painted around the edges of the stretcher so they may be hung attractively without the need for framing. Original paintings are signed on the front and back by the artist.

Payment Options

EFT, cash, cheque and credit card payment are accepted. Please note that credit cards payments incur a 2.5% surcharge. Cheques will need to be cleared before artworks are released.

I first met Kirsten Sivyer and discovered her beautiful artwork when in Denmark during the annual Art Trail. At this time I purchased a small oil painting from Kirsten which was part of her series of fire and smoke. After this I contacted Kirsten to see if she would be interested in doing a commission for an artwork which I saw and loved on her website. Kirsten agreed and after discussing the size for the painting, painted ‘Pastoral Burn 11’ for me. The atmosphere, tonal quality and colours are essentially so Australian. She has captured the essence of the Australian bush and to say I am delighted with the artwork is an understatement! Kirsten is a very talented artist and I am thrilled to now have two of her artworks.

I asked Kirsten for a commission of a scene near her local town of Albany. The process was collaborative and quick, and I’m delighted with the results to say the least. Her skill is extraordinary and the painting looks amazing. The service, down to express post tracking, was exemplary.I would highly recommend working with Kirsten on a bespoke project, and checking out her website for a range of exquisite art from the South-West of Western Australia.

I approached Kirsten with a photograph of my deceased brother and asked her if she could turn it into a painting. It should be said that my request came with the added task of changing the background completely.Kirsten accepted the challenge and the end result was a beautiful painting which I in turn sent to my sister-in-law (my brother’s wife), as a gift. Upon receiving it she was overwhelmed and expressed tearfully how it captured the person Paul was, particularly his smile/facial expression.I could not have been happier with the painting, and what I appreciated also was the ongoing progress photographs Kirsten sent me as the painting began to take shape. At no time did I feel forgotten or wondering about the final outcome.A beautiful job, from a talented local artist whose work I do not hesitate to recommend.Thank you, Kirsten.
